Yes, please!

I will definitely take more positive female role models in the media. I am thrilled to see women being recognized for their intelligence, courage, wit and ability in this article on MSN.

I would write more, but I've been hard at work writing a paper on perfectionism and peace. I've discovered some interesting insights which I will share with you once my work is complete. For now, it's off to sleep.

Due to vandalism

My train was delayed last night. It had been a long day, my feet were sore and I was ready to get some homemade pizza into a very hungry belly - my own. Yet, I found myself stuck at Central station with a 30 minute delay.

In a situation like this you have two choices; stew and brood or make the most of it. I'll take door number two! Vanna, what's my prize? A fabulous opportunity to let you inhibitions go (A.K.A. sit cross-legged on the platform) and take in the sights and sounds of a bustling metropolis.

Stretching out behind me were skyscrapers pushing skywards forming a glittering sea of light. As my eyes scanned upwards I was treated to the lunar eclipse. Mama moon slowly being concealed by a dark shadow. Okay, I get it. Slow down. Take time to be here, now. Breathe in, breathe out. Say thank you.

How can you slow down?

Looking back on your day, what are you thankful for?

Be happy. Be healthy. Be whole.

Mama's got a new office!

After over four months of thick, woolly socks and a chill no duvet could match, spring has finally arrived in Sydney! I stepped outside this morning to water our recently planted herb garden only to discover I was seriously overdressed. Hallelujah! I raced inside to my closet and thumbed through all my skirts before settling on a floaty, floor length beauty. Perfect!

Now for the best part, setting up my new outdoor office!

Last year my partner and I were living in a shoe box in the inner east of Sydney. As a Kansas girl who was used to the open sky, I needed more space and easy access outdoors. As the new year rolled around, I declared 2007 the year of the balcony. All I wanted was an urban refuge and gosh darn it, I wasn't going to settle until I found my oasis. We looked for two months before striking gold in the inner west suburb of Newtown - a spacious living plan with a massive balcony facing west. Could it get any better?

The weather turned cold two weeks after we moved in. All winter I longed for the day I could venture out, barefoot with a cup of mint tea in my hand, to watch the sun sink below the horizon. Finally, that day has come. I'm glad I get to share this moment with you.
